If you drive when under the influence of even a small amount of alcohol it is certain that your driving will be impaired. Reaction times will be extended and while you may feel confident to drive, anything that occurs requiring a judgement decision may lead to disastrous consequences. For Learner and Provisional drivers in NSW at least, there is virtually zero tolerance for having any blood alcohol levels. With this in mind, being able to detect small amounts of alcohol on your breath would be quite useful. The SILICON CHIP Alcohol Level Meter can be used to detect and display the presence of alcohol on your breath. And it operates with sufficient sensitivity to detect blood alcohol levels below the critical 0.05% concentration. Before we go any further, though, let’s get one thing straight: this unit does not and can not replace the highly calibrated devices used by the Police. Therefore it must not be used to make the decision to drive or not to drive based on an "under .05" or "over .05" reading. Our advice would be – if you drink, don’t drive! |
