Searching for buried treasure is a popular past-time for many people. For some it’s a dream. For others it’s a full time (and occasionally lucrative) occupation.

Some comb the beaches for dropped coins and lost jewellery (have you ever noticed when you drop a coin at the beach how the sand seems to eat it immediately, even if you see exactly where it lands? That’s one of Murphy’s corollaries and is one of the reasons metal detectors were invented!)

Others try the goldfields, hoping to "strike it rich" either from a nugget left undisturbed over the centuries, or perhaps overlooked in the tailings, or spoil, from earlier gold mining.

Who knows, there could be another "Welcome Stranger" just waiting for you to stumble across it. (Let us know if you do!!!!)
